Ted Schlein, Chairman

Mr. Schlein has served as Chairman since February 2004. Mr. Schlein joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in November 1996. His focus has been in the area of enterprise security and applications, infrastructure and services. He joined KPCB with significant experience in enterprise software business management at Symantec Corporation. As Vice President of Networking and Client Server Technology, he was responsible for overseeing the marketing and development of enterprise products. Prior to that, he served as VP of Symantec's European business development and as Vice President of the Data Management Group. Mr. Schlein is credited with establishing Symantec in both the utilities and antivirus markets by starting and building these business units. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Ken A. Goldman, Director

Mr. Goldman was Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration, and Chief Financial Officer of Siebel Systems from 2000 through its acquisition by Oracle in 2006. Prior to joining Siebel Systems, he held Chief Financial Officer positions at Excite@Home, Sybase, Cypress Semiconductor, and VLSI Technology. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Goldman served as an advisory council member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board Advisory Council (FASAC). Mr. Goldman is an MBA graduate of the Harvard Business School with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.

John M. Jack, Director

Mr. Jack brings more than 20 years of sales, marketing and executive management experience to Fortify Software. Mr. Jack has held CEO and executive positions at Covalent, Shaman Corporation, The Vantive Corporation, and Sybase, Inc. As Vantive’s COO, he led the company’s expansion from early revenues through IPO and successful acquisition by PeopleSoft. Earlier, at Sybase, he helped build the company's sales organizations and, as part of the original management team, was integral to the company's rapid growth to more than $1B in yearly revenue.

Tod Nielsen, Director

Mr. Nielsen is President and CEO of Borland Software Corporation. Mr. Nielsen brings with him more than 20 years of leadership experience in the enterprise software and application development industries, having held executive level positions at companies such as Microsoft Corporation, BEA Systems and Oracle Corporation. While Executive Vice President at BEA, Mr. Nielsen defined and launched BEA's leading application platform suite. Mr. Nielsen also spent 12 years at Microsoft, where he was a Vice President in the Platform Group and led the developer outreach effort.

Howard Schmidt, Director

Mr. Schmidt has held some of the most prominent positions in the security field. He has been Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Security Strategist of eBay, where he helped establish the online commerce giant as the leader in securing online transactions for businesses and consumers. Mr. Schmidt is the former Cyber Security Advisor for the White House, where he was appointed by President Bush as Vice-Chairman of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board. He formerly was the Chief Security Officer for software giant Microsoft and helped establish the Trustworthy Computing Program. He continues to lead many efforts which bring public and private sectors together to share critical cybersecurity information internationally.

Roger Thornton, Director

Mr. Thornton has proven his leadership in the development of software products over the last 16 years by serving in engineering and product management roles at top-tier technology companies including Cypress Semiconductor, Apple/Taligent, and Sun/JavaSoft, where he was responsible for market development for Java 1.0. Over the last seven years, Mr. Thornton has served in roles ranging from technology consultant, interim executive advisor, and investor to more than 20 technology startups, seeing several through to successful IPOs and acquisitions.

Bob Spinner, Director

Bob joined Sigma in 2003 as Venture Partner and in 2006 became Managing Director. He brings to the firm two decades of high–technology business operational experience. Throughout his career, Bob has served in various operational capacities, including CEO, worldwide sales, technical sales support, software programming, database design, and private and public fundraising. While at Sigma, Bob has helped a number of the firm’s portfolio companies expand operations, build management teams and increase revenues. Bob’s technology focus areas include enterprise applications software, e–commerce, and software as a service.

Dick Williams, Director

With a 40-year history in the industry, Williams is well-respected for his ability to identify innovative companies and grow them into market standouts. Following a successful 22 year career at IBM, Williams guided companies including Digital Research, Illustra Information Technologies and Wily Technology through strong growth and high-value acquisitions by industry leaders including Novell, Informix and CA.
